On February 1st as I was skiing at Deer Valley resort I got the idea to ski all 14 ski resorts in Utah in 30 days. I’ve ski’d most of them over the years but never in a month. I quickly hurried and got three done the first week (Deer Valley Resort, Park City Mountain Resort and The Canyons).
Then my back decided I wasn’t ready to ski almost every day. A year ago I herniated two discs in my lower back and I’m still dealing with limitations on what my back can handle.
I decided to be smart and postpone this awesome challenge to next season when I hope my back will have realized I’m not going to stop playing sports and it better be back to normal. But for now I’m going back to skiing once or twice a week. There’s biking, hiking and climbing season around the corner too.
So between postponing my fun challenge and going a tad stir crazy not having been on a road trip since December due to work, I needed a new challenge to keep me occupied.
I decided to get back on track trying to compile my bucket list into one place. A while back I collected all printouts, ripped out articles and handwritten notes into binder. But then I have bookmarks, digital notes and emails that are still floating around.
I started to search for that perfect bucket list tool. I mean, there’s an app for everything today. I found a few different apps but none of them appealed to me. I still haven’t found one I like so I’m just going to start creating one on this blog.
Some people make one list and never add to it. That’s not me. For every item I cross off I seem to find new ones to add so I need something that’s easy to organize. I think I’m going to organize it based on country, state, area, activity and other.
One of my bucket list items is to visit all National Parks in the USA. Last year I visited 12 of them.
National Parks visited in 2013:
- Mesa Verde NP, Colorado
- Capitol Reef NP, Utah
- Zion NP, Utah
- Crater Lake NP, Oregon
- Olympic NP, Washington
- Great Basin NP, Nevada
- Grand Teton NP, Wyoming
- Yellowstone NP, Wyoming
- Death Valley NP, California
- Bryce NP, Utah
- Canyonlands NP, Utah
- Arches NP, Utah
I started this blog after I had already visited many of them so this year I’m going back to photograph and document some of them for new blog posts. Which reminds me it’s time to make a list of which ones to visit or revisit this year.
How do you organize your bucket list? And if you use an online tool that you like, please let me know. I would love to check it out.
